PRESS RELEASE: January 2023

On-piste safety campaign The Piste X Code announces new partnership with POC Sports

As the global leader in snow safety products, POC is the perfect brand partner for The Piste X Code, which launched in Morzine, French Alps in February 2022. POC is a Swedish company with a strong mission to protect lives and reduce the consequences of accidents for athletes and anyone aspiring to be one. This new brand partnership will bring expertise in the science and technology of on-piste safety to the forefront of the Piste X Code campaign.

Launched in February 2022 by Morzine residents Amie Henderson and Louise Paley, the Piste X Code is a bilingual campaign to remind and educate mountain-goers on the principles of safe on-piste skiing and snowboarding. Its aim is to reduce unnecessary accidents in ski resorts, says co-founder Louise Paley,

“Spending time in the mountains with family and friends creates fantastic memories and our campaign encourages you to head out and enjoy the outdoors in a safe, well-educated way. Our eight-point guide to staying safe on the piste is easy to understand and remember. We hope with POC on our side the Piste X Code campaign able to reach more skiers and snowboarders this winter.”

On the new partnership, Marcel Piermayr, POC Marketing Manager Europe & NA says,

“We have a clear vision to develop products of unquestionable quality and groundbreaking innovation to protect lives and reduce the consequences of accidents for athletes and anyone inspired to be one. However, the majority of on-piste accidents are entirely avoidable and it’s important to understand how we can prevent them from occurring in the first place. Partnering with the Piste X Code campaign is a natural fit for POC.”

Says Amie Henderson, co-founder of the Piste X Code,

“Partnering with POC is a significant step forward for our safety campaign. POC lead the way in the research and development of mountain safety equipment and bringing the extensive knowledge of their team on board will help us better understand how accidents and injuries occur.  We’re very excited to build a partnership with POC this winter.”
